It's becoming equally clear that the global revolutionary movement in the twenty first century, will be one that traces its origins less to the tradition of Marxism, or even of socialism narrowly defined, but of anarchism.

http://makeworlds.net/node/84#comments Crisis of representation and politics of space Sat, 21 Feb 2004 23:22:27 +0000 fls 84 at http://makeworlds.net Franco Bifo Berardi: What is the Meaning of Autonomy Today? http://makeworlds.net/node/69
I do not intend to make an historical recapitulation of the movement called autonomy, but I want to understand its peculiarity through an overview of some concepts like "refusal of work", and "class composition". Journalists often use the word "operaismo" to define a political and philosophical movement which surfaced in Italy during the 60s. I absolutely dislike this term, because it reduces the complexity of the social reality to the mere datum of the centrality of the industrial workers in the social dynamics of late modernity.

http://makeworlds.net/node/69#comments Crisis of representation and politics of space Sat, 17 Jan 2004 12:04:00 +0000 fls 69 at http://makeworlds.net Etienne Balibar: L’Europe: une “impossible” citoyenneté? http://makeworlds.net/node/67

http://makeworlds.net/node/67#comments Crisis of representation and politics of space Tue, 13 Jan 2004 22:40:00 +0000 Arianna 67 at http://makeworlds.net Saskia Sassen: Electronic Markets and Activist Networks http://makeworlds.net/node/64
Interactions between digital technology and social logics can produce a third condition that is a mix of both. When this mixed domain gets structured in electronic space we call it a digital formation (see Latham and Sassen, this volume). This chapter focuses on two such formations, the global market for capital, and global electronic activist networks. In both cases my organizing question concerns the operation of social logics and how they shape and are in turned shaped by these technologies. The focus is, then, on both the transformative capacities of these new computer-centered technologies as well as their limits, limits partly set by social logics.

http://makeworlds.net/node/64#comments Crisis of representation and politics of space Thu, 08 Jan 2004 10:30:00 +0000 fls 64 at http://makeworlds.net Judith Revel: Devenir-femme de la politique http://makeworlds.net/node/58

http://makeworlds.net/node/58#comments Crisis of representation and politics of space Fri, 26 Dec 2003 10:57:00 +0000 fls 58 at http://makeworlds.net
